Former Marilla Highway Superintendent David Pierce is the victim of an apparent suicide, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed. Pierce on Monday was sentenced to seven months in prison for improper use of Highway Department equipment and personnel and the theft of town funds through a fraudulent invoice scheme. The judge also ordered him to make payments well over $20,000 in restitution.
